I'll tell you what. PBS has the best "reality tv" programming around in my opinion. Fuck Fear Factor, screw Survivor...Colonial House, and the programs that preceeded this one, have it done right. Take a bunch of people back in time for a few months or so, and in the whole process you learn about that time. You realize how hard and harsh living was then, how to break away from 20th and 21st century living. If you really want more information on this, go here. I'm going to bed now. It is way passed my bedtime.

i love those! there was one in england where the people (a family) had to live in a house as if it were the 1800's. and another where 3 families had to live in the wilderness in like...montana or some similar place as if they were pioneers.

GREAT stuff!

This one is 17 people (families adn some single people) acting as colonists. They came to the coast of Maine in a boat, which I think they had been on for quite some time, and now they have to do what they can to survive, plus grow a corn crop to pay back the "investors" back in England.

I saw a behind the scenes of one, I think it was Frontier House, and some touchy subjects came up like wearing makeup, menstruation (!) and birth control methods. There were some testy people who were like, "I have had enough kids, and I am not having any more," and then some who were like, "C'est la vie," or whatnot.

I love the fact that the narrator keeps the viewer up to date with the historical aspect of it all.

Go to the website to get more info...I think more will be on tonight.
