Thanksgiving was...

...kinda crazy. Not much time to write about it now, but I will write that a few hours after we'd been home, there was a heavy knock on our door...deja vu from the last hurricane. I knew the phone worked because I had been chatting with Maggie earlier. I opened the door to the security guard telling me, and everyone in our building to move our cars because there was a car on fire in the lot. Odd thing is that the car had been off as long as we'd been home. There was lots of smoke, and I was frightened to move my car. I wanted to, but as I was the closest car at 2 spaces away, I had no idea how long it would be safe to be that close to it before it could potentially blow. So I did not move it and I stood back with the others as I heard the sirens nearing. I figured my car could be replaced if needed, though I'd be sad if I had to do that, but that my life was more valuable. In the end, no one was hurt, and nothing was damaged other than the car on fire. They put the fire out and I eventually went inside because I was in my jammies without socks or shoes on and it was cold outside. My heart was beating so fast the whole time! I wish I knew how a car that had been off for a few hours could have spontaneiously burst into flames. Maybe we'll find out later.

Gotta run off to the workplace for a while.

Remember my last POS car? During the first year I had it the dealership did a major recall on all cars made in the year mine was. Reason why? Because of a badly designed part. Some cars of that year were known to spontaneously burst into flames, even if they were off for a long time with no keys in the ignition. They were really quick and polite about replacing the part and getting Indy back to me quickly. Gee, wonder why...
Oh, speaking of exciting apt complex stories, found out that two days ago there was a stabbing right in front of bf's apartment building. Thankfully we stayed at my place that night! Some girl was having a fight with her boyfriend in the parking lot and stabbed him in the chest with a knife. He staggered across the street and collapsed in front of a nearby restaurant. The news crew apparently did their report right where my mangled car sat for two weeks. So sayeth my coworkers.
