A meme is an idea really, and in the context of LJ at least, is a quiz or survey or randomly generated thing, such as the one I listed. There is usally the html code needed on the page where the quiz, survey, or randomly generated thing is. Actually, surveys are usually copy and pasted from other journals or created by other people on LJ. I don't do them often, but some people seem to do nothing but them.
