Whee!

They (the management) brought in doughnuts for us today...and, some clever, clever person brought in Krispy Kreme! Of course they were NOT as good as the "HOT DOUGHNUTS NOW" sign brings us, and they were slimy and greasy from being in the boxes too long. They looked like what you get from the grocery store...stacked together vs lying flat in the box, hence the sliminess and greasiness. Slimy and greasy icing aside, they were still the genuine article...light and airy and delicious. They were just a bit messy.

The doughnuts are not normally slimy or greasy when you get them fresh from the stores. the icing is a thin white blanket over an air of a doughnut. What happens is when they package them up to distribute to convenience stores and grocery stores locally, they place them on their sides and they kinda melt together with the leftover warmth so that blanket of icing turns sludgey. When you get them boxed in one of their stores they are laid in the box on their backs (so to speak). They are the best doughnuts in this area, but we don't have much variety. I have had Winchell's on the west coast that are good. I still prefer the airy doughnuts from KK. :)

No, you're not weird. You know what you like and dislike and there is nothing wrong with that. And I know know I like KK doughnuts! :)
