Borrowed with permission...

...an excerpt from a recent post by [livejournal.com profile] glittergrrl69 entitled "Why Can't I be You?" I found this to be very funny.

Last night out of nowhere I started thinking about Gothic Ballet. When I used to go clubbing I went to a Goth club with my friend Gwen and watched her do Gothic Ballet all night. It was captivating... and I realized I don't know if people still do that anymore or if kids today even know what it is. Just out of curiosity I did a Google search on the subject and the only info I found came across to me as negative:

Gothic ballet for Idiots:

Wear long flowy skirts (yes, even the boys), long sleeve
shirts with ruffles and typically pointy toed boots.

When songs by Dead Can Dance, Sisters of Mercy, Depeche
Mode, etc. come on, go to dance floor and spin. While
spinning, dip down like your false eyelashes have come off.
Stop spinning and rock back and forth like you're dizzy.
While being dizzy, bend backward like someone has pulled
your long black hair. Bend sideways occasionally like you
have dropped your clove cigarette. During all of this, wave
your hands around like you're on fire, in slow motion.

Oh, Gothic Ballet... how I miss thee.

To answer your question [livejournal.com profile] glittergrrl69, yes "kids" still perform Gothic Ballet. :)

After logging almost three decades on this planet, I reserve the right to start referring to young people as "kids". Now don't give me shit young lady, or I'll bitch slap you with my dentures. ;)
