In between the calls...
16 May 2003 09:45Forget the lj cut for now...I'm writing it all out...cuz I wanna. So deal.
I had some strange dreams this morning. I always seem to have the strangest dreams when I am in that mostly asleep, but somewhat awake stage. I don't really remember much about my dreams now, but I remember they were involving things and people at work. Harmless things, mostly. One part that I do remember was me drinking some juice and finding it had mold blobs floating on top and then spitting it out and trying to clear my throat from it and I woke up with my throat feeling all icky and sticky. And dry and sore. Hmm.
This morning (and others) when I got in my car to go to work, I reached to turn the radio on, and of course I realised (yet again) that there was no power to it. Without music, I have caught myself wanting to get in the zone and tune out with the trancing sounds of the traffic. It is a scary feeling. I miss my music.
I want to dye my hair again soon. Roots are starting to show. Problem is, I don't know if I wanna stick with the same color, or change it. And if I do change it, what color to try. Everyone, except my parents (who love their baby girl's natural blonde hair from years ago) love the reddish/copper blonde color I have been using for a while now, but the red fades fast and the copper turns brassy. So I am thinking about going more golden blonde (medium or dark), light golden brown, or maybe even back to my natural color, which is pretty ashy, and which I don't really like.
shyystarr said she wanted to dye her hair again soon too, so maybe we'll go to the store together and pick out the dye, and then dye our hair together. I had wanted to borrow some stoneware from our friend, Maggie, over a weekend, so maybe we can make brownies or cookies or something while we dye our hair. Or maybe not. (Let me know,
shyystarr)
I think it is kind of ironic, that since Mark has been home, I have seen two travel programs focusing on places he visited on the last leg of his European travels. Austria and Switzerland. The show on Austria was a show called Globe Trekker, formerly called Lonely Planet. This show mostly focused on Vienna, but did branch out to Mauthausen, a concentration camp from WWII, and Salzburg, most famously known as the birthplace to Mozart even though they cast him out. The other show I saw was called Rick Steves' Europe, and in this episode he focused on the Jungfrau region of the Alps...beginning with Gimmewald, my brother's favorite place on his visit to Switzerland. Too bad the host is a boob...we, Chas and I, call him Nerd Steves. You'd think with all the travelling he has done, and culture he has been exposed to, he'd have a better personality. Maybe it is just bad scripting and he is a really cool guy behind the camera. I dunno, but I still watch him from time to time, because I like travel shows.
Still in my search for the perfect chino/khaki. I'm sill thinking that the wide leg chino from Victoria's Secret is the best I've seen. I tried on a few pairs from various stores last night, and I just couldn't find what I am looking for, though Ann Taylor had a few pairs, but they were very expensive or not the right length...too short "capri" length or non-petite regular length (which could always be altered, but they'd still be more than the VS pair), so I think I will just fess up the $$ and order the pair from the catalog...it's just that I am cheap and was hoping to find something less expensive, even though these are't too expensive. I have given it my best shot, looking around town for something that I like, that fits, and is less expensive, and I haven't found it yet and I don't think I will. Most of the stores are carrying only capris for summer now, which usually make me look shorter than I already am for some reason. It sounds silly, but I think the longer pant leg gives the illusion of longer legs. Maybe? Plus, everyone that has seen the pair in the catalog agrees that they are nice, and that they'd look good on me. I think that in the back of my head, I have known from the beginning that I will get these. I hope I will not be disappointed.
Argh, well, I am off to eat something at lunch. Not sure what I'm having yet.
