Last night we went to visit my parents for dinner and fireworks...their city always does it the day before the Fourth of July (not enough companies to do it all on the Fourth you see, so they split it up). My mom decided not to cook since my brother and sister-in-law were not coming after all; my brother was feeling sick. We went to the Piccadilly restaurant nearby but it had just closed, so we went for "old faithful" in our family...PIZZA!! While we were there, we ran into an old friend of mine from many years ago, who apparently worked there as a second job. It was nice to see him again, though it has been way too long, in my opinion. We grabbed our yummy and highly greasy pizza and went back to my parent's place to eat. Just as we finished eating, we heard the first booms of the fireworks display. We grabbed our chairs and parked them outside their door on the sidewalk and looked to the fireworks display from the lake across the highway. The show lasted about 30 minutes with an epileptic, boom crashing finale. We went home after that, using the same clever back roads we took to get there, and successfully avoided the mess of traffic that we got stuck in the last few years. All in all, it was a very nice evening spent.
