Seen lots of really good films and such so far. Had very few breaks until now, and that is only because the show we were going to see was packed; we got there too late and couldn't find 2 seats together. So we will see it later on in the week with its repeat showing.

I think today was better than yesterday. I think[livejournal.com profile] mamarose, in particular, would have appreciated Sister Rose's Passion. Here is a documentary about a Catholic nun from Wisconsin who stood up for Jews and eventually convinced the Pope to make a decree stating that the Church no longer blames Jews for the death of Christ. It goes deeper than that, but it was fascinating to learn about the thought processes that went through her mind while she pursed the research, and so forth.

I think my favorite full length feature was from Friday night, Saving Face, which dealt with modern issues facing the traditional Chinese community in Flushing, NY. The short short version is that this about a young and unmarried Chinese doctor, whose mom sets her up with men, and through a twist of fate, falls in love with another woman instead. She has to deal with that current issue in old Chinese tradition and hides it while her mom, a widow, is pregnant on her doorstep, as refusing to name the father gets her kicked out of *her* parent's house. I hope this gets more distribution.

The shorts #4 program had a lot of hits today. The documentaries were good today, if not a bit emotional. Images of the Holocaust are always difficult to see, especially when you have been raised Jewish and this is something that is always part of your life.

Well, I think I need some rest now.
