More movies.
16 April 2005 17:48Last night, after returning the munchkin home (did he EVER stop talking and go to bed?), we went to the midnight movie (My Big Fat Independent Movie) at the Enzian. I thought I would never make it through. It was also freezing in the theater. Anyhow, it was a spoof on a bunch of independent films. Ones I could recognize were Pulp Fiction, Mulholland Drive, Amelie, Dancer in the Dark, Memento (only because I had seen a spoof "Mementoke" last year), Pi and Swingers (both referenced in the film), Reservoir Dogs (Chas had to tell me), and more I am sure I am forgetting. It was good, but not great, and having a frame of mind that has seen at least a handful of them certainly helped.
Today we saw a double feature of documentaries, like last weekend. We saw Positively + Naked and The Royal Academy. The former was about an art installation where 85 HIV+ posed nude in a restaurant in New York City ( I think) for POZ magazine's 10th anniversary. The photographer has done these mass nude photos before, though he donated this to the magazine. It was interesting to see the variety of people people with HIV and/or AIDS and how they acquired it, how long they have had it, how they deal with it, etc. It reinforces, in a vaguely connected way, that I want to cook for those patients who cannot cook for themselves...healthy, tasty meals. The latter was about an old lady in London who has submitted a painting for about 30 years into the Royal Academy Summer Exhibition, and has consistently been rejected. Interesting. Not great or fantastic, but the woman's son did it, and he captured some really funny moments.
Going to see more tonight, though my mind is muck at the moment. :)
