The idea behind the soup is that garlic has health benefits, including being a blood warmer...heating the body helps fight infections. And I think garlic is antibacterial or antimicrobial or something...the reason that many chefs cut open a clove and rub over the surface of raw meat before cooking...to kill the baddies the meat might be making friends with. Beware that all that garlic might make you smell, as it comes out of your pores, and also, it might give you cause for the bathroom if your tunny is sensitive to garlic. But hey, that is part of getting better...purging stuff from the system.
