I should have just stayed in bed today. Getting woken up early was not that much fun either. I was hoping for VGH, but something in the networks broke, so we have been super busy today. And what is up with the customers today? Do they all have bugs up their asses or what? No one is going home early, right now at least, unless we max cap (have more bodies than we have stations for the people starting at later shifts). I would really enjoy a nice, hot, quiet bath. No customers, no thoughts. Drift away, drift away...

Maybe afterward I could have some of my gingerbread spice tea and some of the truffles Peter gave us when he came to visit. Sit down on the couch and try to delve deeper into my book, try to just feel happy and relaxed. Or, we could have all the lights off in the apartment and I could snuggle with Chas and we could watch an old silent film or something together.

Thinking these thoughts just makes me want to be here less and less. Sigh...

Well, the clock has just struck midnight here, in Poland, so...
Happy New Year, Plunkybug! May 2004 be much better than 2003 and worse than 2005!

Thank you very much! Happy New Years to you too. We have a few hours to go yet, but I am so tired I am not sure I am going to make it. :)

Out of curiousity, what part of Poland are you from/in? Your bio page says, but I don't know where that is. My maternal grandparents were from Poland so I have some Polish in me in addition to the Swedish and Turkish from their ancestors, and Russian on my father's side.

So, basically you have ancestors from all over the world?.
LOL:)
Actually, come to think of it, it's pretty much the same with me: my dad's mother is from Slovakia and his father from Hungary. My grandparents on my mother's side were from Ukraine and Lithuania.

As for what part of Poland I'm from - I was born in Rzeszow (that's in the south east of Poland, near Bieszczady mountains) but for the greater part of the year I live in Lublin (about 168 km north of Rzeszow, near the Ukrainian border) where I work and study.

Well, I wouldn't say "all over the world" but I guess I could say "all over Northern/Eastern Europe and Russia" though I have no idea where in Russia, and of course, with these changed times and borders, who's to say it is even Russia by today's standards?

Anyhow, this is what my mom told me about her parents:

"Both my parents were born in 1919 in Bialystok pod Lasem (translates to something like White Flower under the Trees). "

I think she looked on a map with us once or twice within the last few years and pointed to a region somewhere to the eastern borders, though I think she may have been a little uncertain about the exact location of the city on the map. She said the town had changed significantly in the last 50 years. There is a part of me that wants to learn the language (and more about my grandparents families) so I can connect with my ancestry better, and so I can continue on the family heritage. I know it saddens my mom that she has very few people to speak to since her parents died. It is just her and a handful of remaining relatives that know now. My husband says she should move to Chicago...there is a huge Polish population there.

Anyhow, I am rambling, as I am so prone to do, especially when tired as I am today. I will shut up now.
