Shall I list the reasons? Is it really THAT important to you that I wear green on St Patrick's Day? Ok, here goes.

1. Quite simply the most obvious reason: I don't own anything green, and if I do, it must be stuck somewhere in a pile of dirty clothes. I used to have some greenish pants a while back, and a top with pastel green, blue and off white stripes to match. The closest I have now is a shirt with pinkish pastel stripes, and there is a greenish/greyish stripe too, but it looks more grey then green. If you want to go to that extreme, my eyes have some green in them. I actually always liked my eyes. They are hazel...dark green rims with golden flecks inside. Oh, and my car is green (except for the massive amounts of yellow pollen on it right now), but that doesn't count either. So yeah, the main reason I am not wearing green today is that I couldn't find anything green to wear.

2. I have no Irish roots in me at all. None whatsoever. And I am not Christian or Catholic. For starters, I am French Canadian by birth. My dad's family is all from Russia. My mom's side of the family is from Poland. Her dad's family goes back to Sweden, and her mom's family goes back to Turkey. But no Irish. The closet Irish I got is that my mom's parent's traveled in Ireland and Scotland after WWII when the British military rescued them from Siberia. Somehow I don't think that counts.

"Ay, you're just nitpicking. Relax and have fun! Drink some green beer and celebrate this practically meaningless holiday to any non-Christian."

Yeah, I'm just a party pooper. No green beer for me, thank you. No beer at all for that matter. I don't like that icky swill one bit. Ick ick ick.

Actually I have nothing against the Irish. I guess I am just in a rant mood right now. I better quit before I get myself in too deep. Or get green beer poured over my head for being a prick.

I don't really hate the holiday. Or the Irish. I was just feeling harassed by overly cheery people mentioning the obvious fact I wasn't wearing green and that put me in a foul mood. So no offense to anyone. I was just ranting about how serious some people are about fairly non serious holidays.
