So I had that weird waking up feeling again today. There is a definite disorientating feeling to it...just not sure how to explain it.
Friday night was spent at the Apple store and the Millenia Mall as I noted in previous journal entries. We really enjoyed ourselves. Chas and I also had California Pizza Kitchen for the first time. I've made one of their recipes before with Peter (he taught it to me and I've made it many times since), but there has never been one here before, and even so, this one is on the other side of town...we never get out there except to go to the Apple Store. The Tuscan Hummus appetizer was amazing, and the pita bread was good too. They used white beans (instead of garbanzo beans which is typical for Middle Eastern hummus) which was a nice change, and they used a ton of garlic that gave it a nice spicy kick. We also ordered the Rosemary Chicken and Potato Pizza. It was ok, but I am not sure how well potato and pizza go together. I later took the leftover pizza and dipped it in the leftover hummus which was yummy. We left the mall and went home. Thank goodness it had cooled off by then. The breeze was nice and there was not a lot of traffic on the way back.
Saturday, I got my tire replaced, then went shopping at Ross for a bit as I mentioned in my last journal entry. Once home, I bummed around the house for a little while, ate the leftovers and relaxed. A short time later, we went to my parents house to meet Mark, and the three of us went on to the Greek Fest. The music and the food were excellent as usual. We also met up with my brother's longtime friend, Brian, and his mom. They did not have the carnival rides this year which was somewhat of a disappointment, but there's probably a good reason...we think there is a sinkhole on the property. But, it made room for more outdoor seating and they had more food tents. Instead of the rides, they did have things to amuse the kiddies. The had a few blow up rides for the kids to play in, and they had some arts and crafts booths as well. I made my own candle. It was basically an assortment of colored wax granules that you layered into a small glass (of your choice) then took a torch to it to melt the top layer, and finished it by sticking the wick in as the wax cooled. I started with a red layer, then pink, then white on top. It was neat. They had kids helping run the booths and it was cute. Later in the evening we went to dinner for my brother Seth's birthday. Melissa drove up from south Florida to be with us, and after dinner, Chas and I got together with her and Mark, and we all went to her friend Tom's house. We played pool and air hockey in his garage, with the door open, and music playing. It was fun, and we stayed out very late, much later than I normally do.
Not much was done Sunday, except that we took a present up to my grandad at the elder care center. Chas printed out pictures of him and his late wife, my mom and dad, and me and Chas and we framed them. He may be delirious or delusional or whatever you want to call it, but one thing is for darn sure, he wants out of there. Every time we go to visit, he thinks he is moving to a different room, floor or building. What is interesting is how he can recognise us for who we are and other things in the relative present, yet he is mixing it all with things in the past like his DuCor days as a sales rep. It was funny that he thought Mark and Melissa were recently married. Melissa went home and, later in the evening, Mark came over and we watched Zoolander which was nice, mindless fun.
Well, that was my weekend...slightly more involved then usual. They are going to be a little busier until the end of the month as there is Mother's Day coming up and a wedding at the end of the month. :)
Oh, and Happy Cinco de Mayo to all...El Potro, here we come!
