What I did yeserday.
11 July 2004 10:36Yee gads I am still tired and sore from yesterday! We got up just before 10:00 so we could go to the leasing office and renew for another year. Normally our rate goes up $10 a year but this year it went up $15, except they have this incentive program if you renew early you get a break on the renewal rate. So by us renewing yesterday (the last day for this break) we saved $10 off the original $15 a month extra. So starting in August our rate will only go up by $5 instead of $10 or $15. They did not do that in the past so it was pretty cool. One of these days I really want to move to the back of the complex to the 2 bedroom/2 1/2 bath townhouses. The porch and upstairs balcony in the back overlook a lush tree-filled area. It is really beautiful. I mean, our complex is part of a wildlife preserve. And there are w/d hookups in the closet under the stairs so no more paying for it and hauling our stuff to the laundry facility! But anyhow, I don't think Chas and I can afford it on our own just yet, and it is smaller and one room shorter than our current apartment (but about the same price) so I don't know if we could squeeze Chas' office and our current roommate in at the same time. Something to think about. I suppose there is no harm in taking another look at the layout and space again now that we know what we need. We saw a 2 bedroom/1 1/2 bath unit when we first moved in here, but ended up with a 3 bedroom apartment instead, and that was 3 years ago. Oh well.
Anyhow, after the lease stuff, Chas bailed and went to the mac user group board meeting (since he is acting president) while I went to the bank to close my account. I was fully expecting to be asked why I was closing it and prepared to stand my ground, tell them the reasons and my experience with the customer service on the phone and their absolute ir-regard for me or my feelings or anything and that anything after that would be too late, but they offered to refund all $120 from NSF charges. Now, anyone would be a fool not to take that and I am no fool. So I am keeping that account for a little while longer. The guy said to always come in to a local branch if there is any problem because the customer service on the phone is not usually helpful. Well then, what the hell ARE they useful for anyway?
I headed over to Cassellberry and gave Lesley and Jared a call to see about their moving but they were still at the apartment so I headed over to an eyeglass place to see what they have since I am toying with the notion of getting a spare pair. They tried to hard sell me...you know, where the sales person "talks" with their manager to make a deal only good for that day kind of crap. Not liking that too much and I left. I decided to head over to Target for a little while to check some stuff out and I found myself a new bra (Hanes Her Way Pure Bliss cotton softcup) for under $10...hooray! It is still a tad small but is better fitting than some of my old ones. Now if Hanes will get their website together I might be able to go online and order more in a few different colors (white is ok, but I would like it in black too) and perhaps the right size plus maybe some matching undies too. Looked at some purses also. Decided to head over to the mall since I really needed to get nourishment and I got myself a yummy smoothie. Looked at purses and things and got myself a new pair of black pants from New York and Company (remember the ones I tried on when I went shopping with you Glitter?). I paid full price for them, but I have a similar grey pair that I wear all the time so I figured it was worth it. Plus, they were not likely to have petite x-small for much longer and I decided I better grab them while they still had the one pair left. Oh they are so soft and comfy! :) Also went back to Sears to look at the pair of glasses I originally saw that I liked that made me think about getting a 2nd pair in the first place, but I couldn't find them again. :( On my way out, I saw my favorite market research person and she helped me fib a little to get into a study on iced tea next weekend that pays $30. Woo hoo!
Called Lesley and Jared back but no answer, so I decided to head over to the new place to see if anyone was there but not a being, so since their apartment was not too far away I decided to head over to check, and sure enough, there they were. Having only been there once, I was guessing at the actual building, but I figured I would see a moving van or something once I got to the general area. There was no moving van per se, but as soon as I saw the Anime Sushi van and trailer, I knew I was at the right place. :) I went upstairs to see if I could help with anything and met Lesley's mom and grandmother and Jared's mom and dad. Everything was mostly loaded and they were getting ready to go to the house. I brought over the rock waterfall thingy and drove Jared's mom over. It was nice. We had a nice chat. Over at the house we unloaded all the various vehicles and once that was done we all chilled in the glory of AIR CONDITIONING. Yeah. It was fucking hot yesterday, but it is summer in Florida so what else is new? Then the pizza guy (er gal) came and saved us from our hunger. It was some good stuff! We also had some watermelon. It reminded me of how much I miss fresh "squeezed" watermelon juice. I had some in LA earlier this year, and it was SO GOOD! I haven't seen it offered here though. Anyhow, there was not much we could do after so we chatted a while and then I came home all sore, tired and hot and stuff. I wish I could have helped more though.
And here I am now. Not sure what the day has for us other than seeing my grandad and getting groceries. Guess I should go now.
