18 August 2004 08:10I feel I have been a tad of a dork. I did not put it all together, or perhaps I did but was in denial about the whole thing. My comments were probably a tad insensitive with my gripe about no power when you have lost your home and many belongings, including your car. I think I did refuse to believe that that happened here. Thinking, "No, this isn't really for her building. It is not condemned. That didn't happen here. I am just jumping to conclusions," but it really happened. It is something I would have expected on the west coast where Charley hit the hardest. But not here. Except it did. And I haven't been able to stop thinking about it. I give my full report of our experience with Hurricane Charley later, when I have my own computer and sufficient time to tell the story.

Date: 18 Aug 2004 07:44 (UTC)what is crappy for some is heaven for others...
while an unbearably shitty day for one might be going to work at a job they hate...for another it might be losing their home...
it's all a sliding scale...
no one has been insensitive...and i'm still in denial myself *grin*
i think that in about a month or so, we should get together and hit Polonia...cause kielbasa makes everything better... :)

Date: 18 Aug 2004 15:43 (UTC)As for apartments, ours are fairly cheap though not the most modern or the nicest, but they do. I think there will be a 2 br/2.5 bath townhouse (~1200 sq ft or so) available at the end of the month for about $700 or so (though there are others at different costs). It belongs to one of the leasing office agents and she told me she was moving out at the end of the month. I don't know if it stands now the storm has brought its nasty wrath upon us.
Please keep me/us in touch and up to date with this. I know we don't know each other that well, but that doesn't mean I care any less than people I do know better. I care for all people that touch my life. :)
