...kinda crazy. Not much time to write about it now, but I will write that a few hours after we'd been home, there was a heavy knock on our door...deja vu from the last hurricane. I knew the phone worked because I had been chatting with Maggie earlier. I opened the door to the security guard telling me, and everyone in our building to move our cars because there was a car on fire in the lot. Odd thing is that the car had been off as long as we'd been home. There was lots of smoke, and I was frightened to move my car. I wanted to, but as I was the closest car at 2 spaces away, I had no idea how long it would be safe to be that close to it before it could potentially blow. So I did not move it and I stood back with the others as I heard the sirens nearing. I figured my car could be replaced if needed, though I'd be sad if I had to do that, but that my life was more valuable. In the end, no one was hurt, and nothing was damaged other than the car on fire. They put the fire out and I eventually went inside because I was in my jammies without socks or shoes on and it was cold outside. My heart was beating so fast the whole time! I wish I knew how a car that had been off for a few hours could have spontaneiously burst into flames. Maybe we'll find out later.

Gotta run off to the workplace for a while.

Sad thing for them is that they had just finished paying it off. As for my car, well, I lucked out on it. It is a 1989 Acura Legend, but with 80k miles on it, power things and I got it for free from my aunt...but still I would not find a replacement for the few thousand I would get for it that would equal or be better than what I have.

oh man, that's awful! will they get any sort of anything? i mean, it's not usual for cars to just spontaneously combust, lol.

i'm glad that your car is fine, at least! =)

I don't know. The fire engine was here a long time, but I came inside and had a shower, so I never found out. According to a friend of mine, her car had a recall because some were spontaneously combusting. Their car was 13 years old, was a relative's that they bought it from.

so are they getting anything back? like money from insurance or anything? or did they just get screwed and lose a car?

Haven't spoken to them since, so I don't know.
