Cool. Thanks. I wish I could enter that contest!! :)
If it is getting that much attention there, I would think it would get it here, yet here we have no distributor (ecxept bit torrent!) to see the episodes! :(
If you watch, let me know what you think. I am still a slave to Paul McGann's doctor. :P

That sucks :( You have a sci-fi channel too, so I don't get it. I can understand why it's getting attention here--British production, and wasn't it originally a Canadian show? I thought it was. I remember it always being on tv, but I just never could get into it. I didn't know the plot or anything, and the really cheesy "special effects" really got in the way of the story for me in the old episodes. Strange when you consider that I did like the old Star Trek...
I did watch the premiere of this on CBC this week. I read the info on the web special about the plot and so forth, so at least I kind of knew what the whole deal was with The Doctor, but it didn't really "grab" me. It was well-done though, and even though I missed the first 10 minutes or so, I was able to follow it. I might check it out as it goes along and see if I get into it--will let you know :)
You'd think BBC America would have it, but they are practically a different company and can't afford to buy it. It was pitched to Sci-Fi, but dont know what happened.
I think the idea came from a Candian, but it has been a British production from the beginning. That's something Chas would know.
Basic plot: Renegade Time Lord (time traveller) uses stolen time machine (TARDIS-time and relative dimentions in space) to travel...er, anywhere in time and space! Typically the Doctor has companions as he has 13 lives, regenerates, and thus lives a much longer life than humans. He is ALIEN, even if he LOOKS human. He runs into trouble wherever he goes and rights the wrongs with the help of his companions...sometimes in space and sometimes in Earth's own history. Bad sets are part of the history and magic, as was overacting. But like the old Star Trek, the stories were usually top notch, which is where most of the puny budget went. "Rose" still had some crappy effects, unless the version we saw was an incompleted version.
I had a hard time with "Rose" as I am used to Paul McGann (hottie mc hot hot) as the Doctor, and used to the longer storylines carried over multiple episodes. We will see how it goes. We also got some documentaries. We actually know many of the people involved. Our friend, Paul Cornell, has written a story, a 2 parter we think, so keep your eyes peeled for him. We also know Russell T Davies, the producer. It's what happens when fans get to make the new series. :P
