...here are two more:

1. Canada approves the sale of Plan B emergency contraception without a prescription.

2. Canada approves the sale of Sativex, a cannabis derived pharmaceutical drug, used to treat MS and other medical problems.

Oh yeah, and it is 61F/16C in Vancouver right now, and here in Maitland it is 82F/28C. (Yes, I noticed the number reversal too...totally by coincidence!) It was starting to get really uncomfortable earlier, when it was a little hotter than it is now. And we haven't even started summer much yet.

I'm very glad that the morning-after pill has been approved for over the counter use. After all, it's just a large dose of the birth control pill. It's kind of too bad that insurance will no longer cover it for some people, but I still think it's good. Especially now with SO many pharmacies in the U.S. having pharmacists that refuse to dispense it even with a prescription. That's so insane. Some U.S. pharmacies have even STOPPED carrying birth control pills altogether! Bet they still carry Viagra though. grr.

re Satives--I think that's so great. But medical marijuana is legal here, so it doesn't really surprise me.

Yes, and the most important thing about it is time. The window to take it, and for it to be effective, is so limited. Yeah, the religious right wing of this country is ok with killing people on death row regardless if they were really innocent, but can't let a woman take control of her body and reproductive rights. If life is sacred, then ALL life is sacred. Not just some of it. It is a shame how backwards we can be for being such an advanced country, really amazing. Can't wait to leave.

The thing with Sativex is that is more legal now than it semed "tolerated" before (at least in my opinion from what I understand), and now the government has a way to keep things in check with it. Plus, a liquid is probably better than smoking it healthwise.
