Problem selling my old car...erm, it won't start. Must have gone too long without starting it up. Tried jumping and that gave it some juice, but not enough. Anyhow, not sure what we're doing on that front. I did watch Haley for a few hours today though. We did a little reading...she reads well for her age, and tried to do a little math, but in the end we just played a few games. We also took a walk around the complex and looked at the lakes.
The rehearsal dinner was nice. It was actually a surprise to the bride and groom, and it was more party/get together for family and close friends than rehearsal dinner. I had 2 plates of food...and ice cream later for more dessert. For those who know me well, this is highly unusual. My dear, sweet brother said to me, " Heather, I'm so glad for you guys," indicating that he thought my eating more food than normal meant that I was pregnant. Ha! Think again! I am going to get him back for that...I just need a cunning plan!
The theme of the whole get together was "tropical" and so it carried over to the menu.
For starters, they offered both strawberry and mango drinks while everyone mingled and schmoozed. I had mango. The strawberry was better.
Plate 1: Mixed field greens with oranges and fennel with a macadamia nut dressing, tropical fruit salad with a poppyseed dressing, ceviche, 2 grilled vegetable kabobs. I'm glad the fennel from the first salad was mild, as I don't really care for it much. The ceviche is hard to explain, here is a link to a recipe to give an idea of what it is like.
Plate 2:mashed bonita (?), pasta salad with vegetable ribbons in a creamy tropical pesto sauce, jerk mahi mahi with mango relish, and plaintains...the sweet kind. The mashed bonita was kind of like a sweet mashed potatoes. The pasta and the fish were great, but had a kick of spice. I always love sweet plantains...we make them fairly regularly for dinner with other Spanish fare.
Desert was little truffles, chocolates, pies and cakes. after the rest of the presentations, there was an ice cream bar.
Well, I wonder what they will have at the ceremony tomorrow.
Well, it is late, I am tired, and my head hurts a lot, so I think I will make a date with my bed. :)
