I didn't get enough lunch things at the store because I was planning on having leftovers at some point in the week to take into work for lunch. Except plans in our week changed and threw things outta whack so there were no leftovers. So I looked in the pantry, fridge, and freezer for anything that I could take to work with me because, while I have money with me to buy something, I only have large bills which I am trying to save to get some things on my car done before our trip next week. Anyhow, in the freezer I found a broccoli and cheese microwavable thingy. It has actually been in there a while, but I guess I always thought it belonged to our roommate and never ate it. Roomie is gone and it was still there so I took it with me.

Anyhow, lunch time arrives and I pull out my frozen meal...and it is in a plastic pouch. I remember thinking that it was in a plastic tray and I removed my plastic bowl from my lunch bag this morning. So I managed to get a styrofoam bowl to serve it in, but then I had to cut slits in the pouch to cook it (so it would not explode), and my fork wasn't sharp enough, so one of the maintenance women had a pocket knife and made a few slits. I'd forgotten that I'd let it thaw in my bag all day, and so I almost overcooked it too. Of course once I pulled it out, I had to find someone else with a knife to open the bag of hot food so it could be poured into the cup.

Eventually, after some trouble, I was able to eat my food. It was mediocre, and I am still hungry for something else. I'll just have to tough it out until my next break.

Sigh...

I'm feeling kinda sick right now. I felt a little like this last night for a short time. Maybe I just haven't been eating well lately. My broc and cheese was probably past its prime, though it tasted ok. Maybe it is just the dairy reaction...and the grease reaction from the fish and chips last night. Maybe its because I have been nervous lately. Who knows. Hope it passes.

I'm making brown rice. It says it is a blend of 7 gourmet grains on the bag, but the ingredients list only 5. Still, if you cook the grains in a little melted butter and toast them a little, and use chicken broth as the liquid, it is really quite tasty. Of course a little more real butter mixed in after is always good. : ]
