It was inevitable. Today, at work, I got called "Pippi" because my hair is in braids. I braided it into 2 braids while my hair was still wet after my bath last night, and I slept like that. And so I was a lazy sod this morning and did nothing to it but rebraid it and clear out the frizzies from sleeping. So I guess it is my own fault. But Pippi Longstocking was a redhead, and my hair is red no more. I got it a lot before when it was braided like this and my hair was red, and it was ok then. But my hair is more brown now, and less red. So the connection is meaningless. Oh well. Rant, rant, rant.
Speaking of work, we had an interesting afternoon yesterday. While we were on the phones, there was a faint voice that seemed to come from nowhere. It said, "There is an emergency on your floor. Please evacuate the building." So we all looked at each other and asked if anyone else had heard it. They did, so we all left the building, but as we were leaving, the security guards at the front were telling everyone to go back inside, and that it was only a test. But while none of believed it, we stayed outside. Plus, it has been gorgeous here the last few days, so we all wanted to stay outside as long as we could. Do you blame us? Basically, we wanted someone official, from management or HR or someone to tell us it was a test. I mean, come on. If a big building like ours is having a test, shouldn't the management all be told of it in advance, and to ignore it? Shouldn't everyone be told of it in advance? I'd have thought so, but that is not how this company works. Everyone, but security it seems, was in the dark about it. Things here can be so backwards...so, so CORPORATE. :)
So yeah, it has been really nice out the last few days. Yesterday morning I wore a sleeveless shirt, and when I walked outside it was OH MY! It was a bit chillier than I had been expecting. It warmed up a little during the day, but it wasn't super hot. We even turned the air off last night. Whee!
My nervous/anxious mind has been curious about our apartment buildings being painted lately, so in anticipation of the change, I have been coming home from work each day to see if our building was painted while I was away. And I keep seeing a big fat nothing. Then, the other day, I noticed the building behind that first painted building, had been painted in the same colors. Hmm. I thought they were all supposed to be different colors. That's what Chas said the leasing office had said. So, ok. I figure they must have it under control somehow; they know what they are doing. A few days ago they began repairing the facade to our building, so I thought surely it would have happened by now, but again, nothing. Yesterday, ha ha yesterday, I noticed the building behind ours had been painted...and a different color...PINK! I noticed they weren't done with the trim and shutters and such, but I like pink, and I think I see how they are doing this. I wonder if they will be finished with that building today, or if they will have started ours. I think they will probably do the same thing to our building, if my pattern theory holds. I guess I will have to wait until I go home, and since I am getting off work now, I guess I will have to go home to find out! :)
Update: Nothing done to our building today, but it looks like the building behind us is done, and the trim is the same as the two other buildings. By mid next week, at the latest, we should be repainted. If they don't start on us tomorrow, I will be thoroughly confused at the whole plan. I do feel fairly confident that we will match the building behind us.
