Woke up at about 9:30 or so to the sound of fire engines going by. Lots of them. They got closer and closer, and eventually stopped in front of our building. It appears that there was a fire in the building behind us. Don't know how it happened, or whether anyone was home or not. It was odd looking through the back windows, seeing the fire crew pumping water in the bottom floor apartment. They also had to break the other bottom floor window, and the two upstairs windows were propped up. There is a yellow police line over the front of the building now. FOX 35 News was out earlier, filming a piece for the news later. The crew are still here picking things up, and getting ready to go, though they have been here for hours. Chas is blocked in by the trucks and equipment and can't go to work. My gain?? :)

And, erm, about that renters insurance??? Maybe now is the time to look into it.

I want to go see what the wanted and reward signs say. It was too busy this afternoon, and too late now to look. It might help figure out how the fire started, or whether the apartment was even occupied. What is also scary is that the house next to the one I grew up in recently burned down...within the last year or so, so maybe not exactly recently.

Oh no! That's sad about the house next to the one you grew up in too. Let me know what the signs say when you find out please. :) I'm curious.

Walked by this morning. Reeked of burnt things. I posted my findings earlier, but basically the reward sign is actually a danger sign ( I was guessing from what I saw from my back door), and the wanted sign is for information on suspicious activity or about the fire in general. So it looks like it was arson. My dad said on the news that all four units in that part of the building were destroyed. Don't know if anyone was living there or not, but I will bet at least one unit was occupied, if not more, or all of them. I don't believe anyone was hurt at this point.
