This is a picture I took on our recent trip to Asheville, NC. It was taken near the parking garage our rental was at while we were downtown shopping. I don't think this picture gives justice to the amount of hills there. We flat-landers aren't used to hills or mountains. :)

Asheville, NC

These are Morgan's. They were $66.66 and they usually run $140-150, and I could not pass that up. I had wanted Margaret's for a while, the non-leather version of the Morgan's, because they are typically cheaper. But these were cheaper and I had to grab them. :)

We took video footage of the 10 minute journey up (and down as well) the mountain to where our friend's house is, where we stayed. I hope Chas is able to convert it soon...it was a wild ride, I tell you. I like these shoes because they are stylish AND have the arch and foot support of traditional Birks that I need for my poor defective feet.

That's one of the reasons I like them so much. I got them as dress shoes. There are other styles that are non-traditional Birk looking. I liked the Liberty too, but they were more.

I am always on LJ while I'm at work and liked your icon, so clicked on your name, liked your butter survey, so continued reading, and saw your pics of Asheville, which is where I'm from, and I still live nearby.
I'm so *not* a stalker, but wanted to let you know that I thought your journal was pretty interesting.

You probably saw my post to the divas. My icon is part of a larger painting by John William Waterhouse. I am in the butter camp as opposed to margerine, though I use oil when I can. Basically, I go for moderation and using what would be best when possible...like eggs...way better with butter than oil or margerine in my opinion.

As for the pic, I was there with my husband over Memorial weekend. We were visiting friends. The 10 minute drive up the mountain to their place was very memorable. Especially the honey vanilla frozen custard in the Grove Arcade. :)

I love butter... too much actually. So I feel very healthy when I can use a healthy oil. But I never use margarine. My mom told me once that it weakens the blood vessels. I have no clue if that has any grain of truth, but I tend to believe her far-out health theories.

There are so many memorable drives around here. And I will definitely have to try that frozen custard!

It was an anniversary flavor, using the poplar honey from Spicewood Farms, one of the vendors outside.
