Friday night we did go for Old Forge Pizza. Apparently it is the pizza capital of the world, and many people have their favorites. We went to a place my brother, Mark, and his girlfriend, Rochelle, had not been to before. We had a tray of red with spicy sausage on it, and white with broccoli. We had massive leftovers. I think they liked a different restaurant for the white, but felt the red was pretty good. I thought it was good, but not wholly remarkable. I don't have pizza all that much because of the huge dairy content, and the effect on my sinuses and allergies. Maybe that has dulled my senses to pizza. We drove around what was to be considered downtown Wilkes-Barre (W-B) though we did not participate in any of the 200th anniversary celebration.

Saturday morning was fairly lazy, and after a few chats online, and some homemade waffles, we made our way south of W-B toward the Poconos, to have a nice afternoon snack at a restaurant on Lake Harmony. Weather-wise, it was nice and warm but breezy, so we ate outside on the patio deck, overlooking the lake and those enjoying it. It was a leisurely snack, and a leisurely drive back to W-B. We took the scenic way home, and stopped off at a few scenic areas to see the valley where W-B is. Back in town, we bummed about a bit more (played with Luzy, looked at the new IKEA catalog(!) and browsed websites on the laptop) and then we head to *the* movie theater in town...used to be two, just the one new one now. Saw Clerks 2 and enjoyed it. I personally did not have the same feelings toward the character of Becky as some have had. I suppose we all have our opinions and there is nothing wrong with that...it gets us thinking, and that is a good thing, right?

We had decided on Saturday, on the drive into the Poconos, to visit New York City on Sunday, as I had never been, and it was only a few hours drive away. Also, my brother had friends he knew in Tampa that had moved to NYC, and Rochelle had a longtime friend that had also moved there too. So, early Sunday morning we got in the car and drove to the city. It was a nice drive, and driving through the Delaware Water Gap was quite beautiful. We got a little lost in Harrison, NJ for a short time, but a nice police officer helped us as we went into a parking lot that said no u-turns that we u-turned into, and the police car followed us. Luckily, we played lost tourists (well, we were) and got directions to the Jersey Turnpike to get to the Lincoln Tunnel, and he did not bother us with the whole u-turn business. :) Once in the city, we parked the car at a garage near the highrise my brother's friends lived in...it was a shwanky place I tell you. We all headed to this little cafe for brunch, then to through Washington Square Park on the way to Magnolia for some famous cupcakes. We ate them in another small park across the street, by which time, there was a huge line outside of the bakery waiting to get in for cupcakes. Then over to Times Square, where I saw the theater where Spamelot is playing (joy!) so I had to take a photo of me there for Chas. Our hosts for the morning left us with their map and helped us plan out the rest of the day. We headed the Avenue of the Americas, and then on to the Apple Store on 5th Avenue...the one that is underground with the large glass entryway at street-level. Needless to say, it was cool, and Chas was very jealous. So...I had the bright idea to call him and ask him log into iChat, and I then I opened a video chat with him. Mark and Rochelle joined in, and we picked the laptop up and rotated it so he could see the store. I think that made him really happy. :D Onward and upward, we headed to the conservatory at the northeast end of Central Park for a rest, because it was fucking hot. And I had the bright idea to wear velvet pants, though not like my jeans would have been much of an improvement. We had been walking all morning, with a few jaunts underground in the subway (ie very hot with no wind or breeze) and sucking down water like it was going out of style, so the rest in the conservatory was welcomed. From there, we took the bus to Grand Central Station, down the Museum Mile, in order to meet up with Rochelle's friend, and from there, we met up at the shwanky highrise and Mark's friends joined us, and we all went to Korea Town (K-Town) for some Korean BBQ. We said our goodbyes and made our way back to W-B. We were hot and tired and sore from the day, and were unable to meet up with [livejournal.com profile] pluralist_baby...she was making dinner, and we wouldn't have had much time to visit. At least I waved hi to her and my other friends in NJ.

Monday was laid back. I had a video chat with Chas and [livejournal.com profile] octophonic and showed them Luzy in the morning when Mark and Rochelle had gone to work. For Chas, I gave him a tour of the apartment on the way to the master bedroom where she was. Because she is so little and just came from the SPCA, they reccommended that she stay in one room for the first week, to adjust to being in a room that was larger than the cage she was in, so the master bedroom was that room. Mark came around noon and took me to lunch at (The one and only) Abe's hot dogs. Egads, this place was cheap. Hot dog loaded was less than a buck. Was tasty too. Back to the apartment for a few more hours to myself, then to the airport, and my delayed flights home. I did have a chance to see my plane pal, Lora (the only other person I know who spells her name that way), who I met on the Atlanta to W-B leg of the trip up.

I did take a whole roll of photos with a disposable camera, so I plan on having them developed this weekend and a picture update to follow. That's about it for now.
