Ok, so I got a digital camera for Christmas present. It is nice and small and light, and a great first camera for me, even if I don't know how to use all the settings, but the pictures are a heck of a lot better than my VGA cameraphone. But, how do I get my nice new shiny picture to the internetz to show all you wonderful folk what I have been up to?

In the past, I would email myself the picture from the phone, and download to the desktop from my mail program, then attempt to upload to Scrapbook. Scrapbook was so hit and miss though, and most of my pictures would not upload right. I had the little "?" where the thumbnail should have been. I asked around, to other users that run OSX and use Safari and/or Firefox, and no one seemed to report the same problems. I tried it again when I upgraded from my GhettoBook to Chas' old G4 iBook, and no change. I was told about Flickr, and having a Yahoo! account, it seemed logical to go that route. I did a few tests, and it was sufficient for my needs, even it it got a little tedious at times.

Now, with my digital camera, I don't have to email myself, as I can just plug in and transfer the pictures into iPhoto. Great! But how do I get them from iPhoto to Flickr? I could email them to Flickr, but I don't know how many I can email or if I would have to break it up into multiple sessions, or I could look into a plug-in for iPhoto to work with Flickr. Such programs exist, but I have no idea which is a good one or how easy they might be, and whether there is a free one that is as good as one I would have to pay for. Can any of my photographic Mac family help me on this? Of course, I do have a .Mac account and I can easily make a webpage with them, but I have a habit of making pictures of me private when I can...call it paranoia. I'd rather use my Flickr account anyhow. At least in this case because the pictures are not all that great for the most part. :P

I ask for this help as I have some pictures from Christmas Day and the New Years weekend in Asheville, to go with an update as well. :)

You should be able to click browse and then locate your iPhoto folder. I wish I could give better advice, but I am teh Mac illiterate.

Well, you would think that, but it is clearly mentioned that only a third party program will work. Due to the nature of the program, and how it works, it is not possible, to the best of my knowledge. I asked my live in computer geek and of course he uses his .Mac account instead of Flickr and has no practical experience in this. The program is a good one, but a plug in seems to be needed for the pictures to transfer seamlessly. Thanks anyhow.

Yes, they have a few tools but none that they really can say one way or the other which was better, or list reviews.

it looks like they are free--you could just d/l them and give them a shot and see how they work for you. Or search for communities related to them on Flickr, or even LJ, or Google the program names and see if you get any hits on reviews?

I suppose I could try a Google search again...did not have much time last time I tried it.

Totally unrelated, but you called while I was out of town and Kirk gave me the message, but that was the night I got a slight fever and was feeling all crappy and so I forgot to call you. SORRY!

Here is the deal: no, the scotchguarding didn't change the way the fabric felt and yes, it did cost extra. (But since the price in-store was less than the price online, I had already budgeted that amount and more just to buy them.)

We saw this AWESOME sectional and ottoman at Costco for $999 but we are worried of spills...it doesn't mention scotchguard, so we have to figure how much more that would be, and if the texture would change much...this couch set is *so* soft., we wouldn't want to ruin it. Other factors are getting it in here (and thus removing the old stuff) and that cost, plus, whether we want to do it with the big move hopefully a go this year. I say it is worth moving it. :P
