Not that I think I am super huge, but I have been concerned about my weight, so I decided I ought to figure out my caloric intake and see how I measure up. I am going to try to keep tabs on this for a week or so.

Breakfast...Smart Start Strawberry Vanilla grain bar...150 calories
Morning break...nothing, was not hungry
Lunch... Simply Asia Sesame Terrayaki Noodle Bowl...640 calories
Afternoon break...half bag (1 serving) Cheese Nips...160 calories
Dinner...Amy's Cheesy Veg Potato Pasta Bake thing...400 calories

This totals to 1,350 calories so far.

I did have a little cherry grain bar, but did not check the calories...was like a mutant fig newton, so I judge it to be about the same as the breakfast...so I am guessing 150 calories but it might be less as it was really small, or more because of the cherry filling.

I had two cups of decaf black tea with sugar and cream...no idea how much sugar I used or how many calories that was.

So I think I was a little lower than the 2000 calories a day for my age group and gender. Ok, so I think I will have just a smidgen of chocolate (Dagoba Dark Chocolate with Lavender and Blueberries) for dessert...156 calories worth (1 serving, half the package).

I think I did ok today. Today was easy though, because of the information on the labels...making dinner from scratch might be harder to calculate.

It's challenging to calculate the right amount of calories on a daily basis, I think your doing well to, im in no way a nutritionist but you seem to do well, some people would avoid high fructose corn syrup which most of the time is in a lot of snack bars which in a way is worse than sugar. Sodium is another thing to watch, which is in practically everything.

Carb's... i dont pay attentino to haha, i freaking love bread to much :) along with coffee i can't completely get away from.

Just don't go overboard with the whole calorie thing you'll drive yourself crazy haha. Chocolate is good, just don't eat milk chocolate or white chocolate which isn't even chocolate to start with.

Those both are filled with sugar and whole milk no actual chocolate, so stick with a high percentage dark chocolate of like 60% or 70% cocoa, that's the most healthy type of chocolate and the most natural. A lot of chocolate purists go for those :)

I personally love the dark chocolate with orange, so so nice.
Nabisco has those 100 calorie packs in a lot of different variety's now so you could always give those a try :)

GOod Luck with this!

Well, I *do* know that calories are not everything...one concern is how many of the calories are coming from fat, and whether the fats are good fats like Omegas (EFAs) or bad; another is carbs and where they are coming from...simple or complex carbs. I really hate how HFCS (high fructose corn syrup) is in so much stuff. I try to eat well, but I have weeknesses, like Popeye's chicken and biscuits. :P

I try to live on moderation for eating...I'd rather use half a cup of good, flavorful cheese in a dish then 1 whole cup of fat free or low fast tasteless cheese. Mind you, when I can disguise a lower fat item in a dish, I try to do so.

there are websites where you can calculate your basal metabolic rate. your height, weight and activity level may influence how many calories you burn and need to eat each day.

not really, but a search for "BMR calculator" would probably work...

I never counted calories when I lost 60 pounds. The thing that did it for me was walking everyday for 45 minutes and getting my heart rate up to the fat burning stage. :)

I am looking into that, but I have to get the scoop on my ankle and pelvis before I get more into it. Doctor appt next week for that. This isn't going to be a regular thing, but really to see how I measure up with my caloric intake...is it average, am I eating more than I should, am I really making wise choices eating, and so on. Ijust want to monitor it a little to get a grasp on my eating habits.
