My mom just got back from spending 2 weeks in Israel with her longtime friends Karen and Jay, who you might recall I called non-blood family who will be family by marriage in a year. They'd all been 40 years ago as teens. This is what she brought back for me.

I linked a smaller version of this in the comments of my last post, but I really thought it deserved a post of its own, in its big, detailed glory. As I said in the comment, she did not know what the stone in it is, but we suspect some form of opal based on the irridescant coloring.

She also brought back a magnetic bookmark which is awesome, and a raw Eilat Stone (pronounced like "ay-lot").

Eilat Stone comes only from Israel's southernmost city on the Red Sea. It is a blend of chrysocolla, turquoise and pseudomalachite. This stone excels in healing emotional and physical aspects of the Heart and Throat Chakras. Flushes out/heals hurt, fear, stress, loss. Has antidepressant qualities. Good for the sinuses and mouth, as well as bone and tissue regeneration. On the Solar Plexus; it aligns the subtle bodies and harmonizes heart, mind, body. Eilat Stone encourages wholeness, peace of heart, self-expression, and creativity. Balances yin/yang. Draws out fever, pain, and inflamation. Each stone is a beautiful mix of blues and greens with black and brown accents.

The raw, unpolished stone is great actually. I think it has a nice variety of colors.

ooooh- thanks for the close-up look on this. I was hoping for that. It is so unique- simple and elegant. Did it come on that chain? It looks like a very delicate rope chain- really nice!

Cool info on the Eilat Stone. Love that kind of info.

Also, cute necklace! :-D

Glad your mom has safetly returned. Was excited for her opportunity. I wonder how her trip went, what was her favourite part of the whole Israel experience. I assume this was her first time? This is so cool!

Thought you might like info on Eilat stone. Maybe I will take a pic later, circumstances depending of course.

She went 40 years ago, with the same people. She was SO happy, you have no idea. Not sure what she thought was favorite part of the trip, but I can get and check back with you later, ok?
