...but it still saddens me to learn that Gregory Hines died over the weekend, especially at his age. I wonder what kind of cancer he had, how long he had had it, and what kind, if any, treatment he went through. Maybe I will find an article that will answer my questions. He was one of the few left of a dying breed of classic entertainer. He entertained many by his dancing, his acting and his singing...all of which he excelled at. While no one has mentioned it yet, I think he was particularly brilliant in Mel Brooks' "History of the World: Part 1," as well as his other roles.

I feel the same way you do/did about him, I'd always liked him as a dancer (fabulous!) and an actor (terrific!) I will definately miss him as well :(
hugs,
Sio (Johanna)

Thanks

And I was also thinking recently about Madeline Kahn, who also died not too long ago, and who also played a role in "History of the Wold:Part 1" with Gregory Hines. I was watching "Sunset Boulevard" at the Tampa Theater, and thought that she would make an excellent Norma Desmond if they ever remade the film, except that she can't accept the role now for obvious reasons.
