I've been hearing a lot about a band called Elefant lately. I've heard them on WPRK, liked the songs and found out who they were *after* the song, when the dj announced what they played in their last set. I am happy to hear that they are playing in town next month with Interpol, which makes sense now that I know they're both from New York. Problem is, it has been a while, and I don't remember what songs I heard, and now the dj that I spoke with last when I requested, asked which Elefant, like there is more than one. I am so confused.

Here is the homepge for the band and album that I found via Amazon.com. I have not found another band and I like this stuff, so this must be it. (Nicole, if you like this, they're playing Philly too.)

My best friend made me a 2 cd set called Happy Happy Joy Joy. On the Happy Happy disc, there is Say Hello to the Angels, which I really like, and on the Joy Joy disc, there are a few more tracks which I can't think of the titles. I don't like those as much. Chas recently got the video Obstacle and I like that one too. So I am hit and miss from what I have heard, but I like Joy Division, to some extent, and Kitchens of Distinction, and Interpol sound like a mix of the two.

I only have Substance on cd, a greatest hits, so to speak (which has extra tracks than the tape had) and if any song on here you'll know, it will be Love Will Tear Us Apart. Among the goth/punk crowds, this is what introduced many to their work, and many consider the song to be an anthem. Someone said once that JD was like a cross between the Doors and Nirvana. I can see where they'd see it. You should also know, that after lead singer Ian Curtis committed suicide, the remaining members formed New Order. It should be also noted that NO had a 2 cd set of hits named Substance as well. I personally cannot take too much of either band...I have a braking point with the vocals.

We can chat more later if you like.
