I did not want to do the meme where you re-write the first line of previous posts, but I figured I would highlight some things that have happened in 2005.

Haircut: I got a new haircut in January. I chopped about 5 inches or so. It was a big change. I had gone from hair that was well past my shoulders, to a style that barely touched them. Using shampoo was a challenge for a bit, because I didn't have to use as much as I had previously. Hard habit to break. I think that the haircut led to other good things this year. In November I went a little shorter.

Culture: At the beginning of the year, chas took on a position at a local paper (I say local, but it was like 30 miles away) as the arts editor. What that meant for us is that we got free tickets to a lot of art events. I saw my first opera, The Mikado, this way. I also saw Aida a few months later. I saw naked man in the fringe show Dragness of God, and more drag queens bonding as a family in Ladies of Eola Heights. Fantastic shows. I saw a handful of other plays in a variety of places, and got invited to an artists birthday brunch at a fancy hotel. And of course, as always, we went to the Florida Film Festival.

Doctor Who: Back and better than ever! Still love The Empty Child/The Doctor Dances episodes best of all. "Are you my mummy?"

New glasses: I know it may seem odd, but after I had gotten my new haircut in January, I spotted a pair of glasses at a shop where Chas was getting his new pair. With the haircut and haircolor I had been using for a bit, I just felt they were needed, as part of the new image I seemed to be creating. They were not that expensive, and I paid them off in bits. I like my new glasses. :)

New job: I finally got the nerve and motivation to get a new job. And I did. Man, it couldn't have come at a better time, since my car died mid-training, and the new job is really close to work. The job has been great, and I am glad I got it. :)

Penny: For those of you who know about her, you'll know that this is a big change for me, and hopefully for the better. For those who don't know what I am talking about, don't worry, you're not supposed to know. Sorry. That's all I am saying on that.

Well, that's about it, as far as what I can remember as being the bigger highlights.

Spent all day at the Disney parks yesterday. MGM, Animal Kingdom, and Epcot to finish. So sore, so freaking sore. Spent today mostly lounging and later in the afternoon went to Kris' to give her and the kids some gifts. Went to my parent's for dinner and latkes. So full, so freaking full. The headache I have had nearly all day isn't letting up, even post medicine. So tired too, so freaking tired, at 10pm. I'm such a wimp.

Warm welcomes extend to [livejournal.com profile] devilgrrl as she joins my friends list. More "divas" on the list! Whee! :P

Whee indeedy...I can feel the tylenol with codeine kicking in...hopefully I will soon have no pain in my lower back. Though I'll likely be in bed knocked out mighty soon as a result. I don't like taking this kind of drug, because it renders me incapable of much more than sleeping when it kicks in, but since I am fighting a cold or flu, I guess I can rationalize that the extra rest is good for me right now. But I hate missing work for a back problem. I wish there was a better way...I think I need to check out the uber small Thermacare pads for the lower back. I can't need to be knocked out like this for this problem, but I can't do a repeat of yesterday either...it was highly unbearable whether sitting or standing. Ack. I need to lie down...feeling very drowsy.

Ok, I am a bit stumped. Who do I know in Canberra, Australia? Better yet, who in Canberra, Australia knows me? I know a couple of people on LJ from Melbourne and Sydney, but not Canberra to my knowledge. It is much closer to those cities than I had previously thought; I had mixed up Canberra and Brisbane. Ooops. Maybe because of the reference I'd seen to Queensland which is in the northeast of the country, and Brisbane is barely inside it.

Not feeling so hot right now. I am positive now that all my fatigue this last week has been partially due to me getting sick...I have the dry scratchy throat. Eck. I should have had Chas stop at the store last night for cold/anti-cold stuff, instead of today, since he is stuck in a major traffic jam. I used my Rhino Horn and neti'd this morning but I still feel all sinus headche-y. Pressure around my eyes and the like. I'll probably do that again later today or tonight. Haven't been regular with it, but really should. Still feel kinda weird doing it. ;/

Periodic cramping too. Nothing I can't handle, but just blah. I feel like going back to bed right now, and maybe I will, but I need to eat something first, just to be healthy and all. Need my nutrients if I am getting sick. Can't get an infection either.

Blah blah blah.

Well, it seems that I am getting trickles of long delayed comments, though I am sure not all of them are in yet. I know i replied to a few of them before I realized I had already replied to them...oh well. I expect more will trckle in over the next few days.

Heh, this is funny...Panexa (read: it's a spoof site for those of you who didn't read closely).

Got the fucking light fixed for the bedroom today. OMFG it's about time! That plus a spare bulb was $20 total. The problem was the dimmer switch. We've had this lamp since our wedding...it was a present from some cousins from a catalog.

I also had a nice afternoon with my Glitter. Both of us moody and cranky. Nothing that a little healthy food and coffee from Barnes and Noble couldn't fix though. Once that caffeine hit, hoo boy, we both knew it. We both felt immensely better and began to giggle like little girls! We took my stuff to Old Navy to try/exchange/etc. Returned the two tanks, kids fleece pants, and green fleece half-zip pullover; swapped out the xsmall fleece pants for small...they're a bit long, but looser where they need to be, and still fit despite the length (I almost swapped the black for the bluish grey and a better fitting top that matched, but it wasn't quite right on me); kept the brown fleece vneck for the black pants; added soft twill khaki/salt/putty colored pants, and a long-sleeved, button down shirt that's black with vertical diamond patterned stripes in silver and gold on it. I almost wore it this evening, and while the shirt was classy enough for the two events we had, the pants were dressy, but not dressy enough, so I stuck to my original plan and it worked out just fine.

Got home, and got ready for the BHN Holiday Party at Universal. Unforunately, we had a double bill for the evening, and so we went to the holiday party, we had to leave pretty soon afterward. It took forever to get back downtown to Viet Garden where our friend was having her birthday. While we missed the free dinner from the holiday party, we had kick ass food at the restaurant, and a good time. I haven't seen these guys in a long time due to my previous work schedule that rendered me unsociable for a while. Everyone said how good I looked since the last time they'd seen me, and said how much healthier and happier I seemed. It was all good. As we were leaving, I had a very good girlie talk with one of the girls I had not seen in ages. She's kinda like a mom to me in the group. She's helped me out when life was handing out surprises, and helped me achieve my goals and get pas the obstacles I was up against. I'll never forget that. i miss her...we never have the chance to get together anymore ouside of these group gatherings which are only a few times a year as it is. It was good to see her. I feel guilty about missing so much of the holiday party, after having rsvp'd ages ago and all, but it was so good to see people that I rarely see anymore, compared to the people I see nearly everyday.

Well, I am tired, and my huggy bear is in bed waiting for me in bed, and well, the thought of warm and cozy huggy bear arms around me makes me tingle with delight!

Still not getting all my comments emailed. Sorry people if I haven't responded. I have been checking the comments page here and there, but with as many comments as I make, it can be hard to keep up. Eh. I need a nap. Good time to go to bed I guess.

PS. I wish our government would periodically have "confidence voting" like our neighbors to the north do. Our national scandal is so much worse than theirs, and yet we can't do that much about it. Just hope the whole truth finally comes out. I wish all my cool Canadian friends the best of luck with the early election and all, and hope to jeebus Mr Harper doesn't get his way. Brrrgg.

PPS. It's cold. High in the 60's and low in the 40's tomorrow. It is getting colder again. It's not so bad in the daytime as long as the sun is shining bright and warm, and it is not too windy, but wind and winter seem to go hand in hand. Hooray for sweaters and my wool coat! :)

here goes anyway! :)

If you read this, if your eyes are passing over this right now, (even if we don't speak often) please post a comment with a COMPLETELY MADE UP AND FICTIONAL memory of you and me. It can be anything you want - good or bad - BUT IT HAS TO BE FAKE.
When you're finished, post this little paragraph on your blog and be surprised (or mortified) about what people DON'T ACTUALLY remember about you.

Yeah, it's Celebrate The Native Americans Saving Our Keesters By Giving Us Food So We Wouldn't Die From The Cold And Starvation Day here. Allowing us to live to lie to them for many, many years. Yeah, I work today. So what. We'll be having turkey and ham at work, with a pot luck of other dishes. I am bringing in green beans with almonds and wild rice. Nothing too fancy...just microwavable stuff. I will have to restrict my turkey intake, to remain awake my whole shift. ;)

Oh yeah, I definitely need a scarf this season. Hair was just (barely) long enough last year to keep my neck warm after the big cut. Not anymore. The last few days here has made this fact very clear to me. Old Navy has a bunch of scarves, gloves, and hats on sale for $10 this weekend. May have to take advantage of that. Even though I have my original order coming to me in a few days. I omitted those accessories from that order, in favor of tops and bottoms, and a bag for work. Maybe waiting was a good idea too, now they are on sale. :)

Speaking of work, I should get ready to go soon.

In reference to this post about the monster garlic in the shrimp scampi skillet meal...I finally found access to my t-mobile journal where I sent the picture to. I'm going to have to bookmark the page for the future.

Anyhow, check out the big white rounds of garlic in the picture. The red and yellow bits are pieces of bell pepper, and there is a shrimp on the bottom and left hand side of the picture for size reference/comparison too.

I love Edward Gorey!

X is for Xerxes devoured by mice.
You will be devoured by mice. You are so shy and
always off alone in the corner. No one knows
you are there except for the blood thirsty
rodents.

What will be your Edward Gorey death?

It's a fair bit breezy outside right now. It is supposed to get down in the 40's tomorrow night. But that is COLD to most of us here where we spend half of the year in 80+ temperatures. Heck, I was shivering in my pants and sweater and hoodie tonight waiting for Chas to pick me up. It sure was windy then, but so much more now. It is allegedly 62 outside in the world according to yahoo. Yeah, I am a wimp. Will die of cold in Vancouver or Victoria when we get up there, and they've got mildest weather in Canada. They are in the low 30's tonight. Yowza!

We had a great time at Glitter's wedding this afternoon. It was the perfect location, and everything seemed to fit. Even the "hubba hubba" eye movement in the vows. I ran into a handful of friends and aquaintences from high school, some I expected to see, and others I didn't.

Went to Costco for the usual cheap gas. I almost got a new jacket, but I am not sure about it. I am still thinking of a Marinac Fleece jacket from Lands End. It costs more but looks like it may be more comfortable in the end. If only they had black in the kids sizes I could get it for less. I also wanted to get a trim done on my hair, but we were tired and came home. Maybe tomorrow. Harry Potter tomorrow too. Yay!

Now I am just schmoozing on the couch, reading lj and my email and catching up. And chatting on iChat. Maybe we'll put in a dvd later, but we'll see. That's a nice thing about the weekend...you can just take it as it comes sometimes.

I did indeed get my order from A Peaceful Company yesterday. It came while I was at work. I definitely like the new Rhino Horn Neti Pot compared to my original purchase. It is lighter and much easier to hold and use, and looks like something you'd find in an IKEA catalog (!). Well, it *is* a Scandinavian designed neti pot.

See? )

Well, must eat the rest of my dinner before it gets too much colder.

Time for the daily grind. I doubt today can top yesterday's excitement. :P

Oh I am so happy. My [livejournal.com profile] glittergrrl69 is now Mrs [livejournal.com profile] glittergrrl69!!! I wish I could have seen the live webcast, but I was working. Hopefully I will get to see the dvd soon. And I will see the new Mrs on Saturday at the Orlando reception. :)

Well, I guess that is all for now.

I am sitting here, in a brand new robe; my first new robe in ages. It is pink...sort of dusty rose pink. It is chenille and therefore soft and fluffy. Not as long as my old one (which was too big to begin with), but for $18.99 at Costco, it was a no brainer. If I said I will wait on it, it would not be there next time we went.

Mmmm. Soft and fluffy. :D
