23 March 2004 21:08I hope Chas gets home soon. I have a wonderful dinner prepared just for him. Ok, so wonderful may not be the best word, but I know he will like it. For me? Brown rice it is. I don't mind. As long as it doesn't make me feel worse it is ok, and somehow I think chili mac with mounds of melted cheese on top wouldn't sit well with me in my current state.
I should go.
I should go.
Coffee info.
23 March 2004 00:19You know who you are. So here it is. The coffee I had today, which we talked about is Sulawesi Kalossi. The description from the website says this:
I must not have a sensitive enough palate for coffee as coffee generally tastes like...well coffee. Like wine all tastes much the same to me too; I can neither taste the the subtle flavors in the coffee nor in wine. But it was not bad...I just had to season it to my taste with (what you would feel is) horrendous amounts of sugar and a tad of milk (soy milk in this case). I suppose it was better than some I have had. But all in all it tasted like normal coffee to me.
This very full bodied coffee comes from the exotic island of Sulawesi (formerly Celebes) in Indonesia. It has a syrupy body, sweet buttery characteristics followed by spicy aftertaste and aroma. The perfect coffee for the Barnies Coffee drinker.

22 March 2004 21:02I want to have a really hot shower and let the water beat on my aching neck and shoulders. My sinuses would probably feel much better too. The odd thing is that I want to wash my hair again, even though I don't have to. I washed it last night and I can usually go 3-4 days without washing it and I will be ok. I guess that is a bonus of having dry and damaged hair. Anyhow, I think the real reason I want to wash my hair is to smell my new shampoo and conditioner...they have very uplifting essential oils in them and I think I need an herbal pick me up now. I think my nose wants to try to smell them. I think my nose wants to smell ANYTHING right about now.
Speaking of senses, my dinner came out fabulously.
( Here are a few more details... )
UPDATE: I did have my hot shower, but I stuck my hair up in a bun and shower cap and decided to use some of Chas' Tea Tree Oil Shampoo as a body wash. Reason? Tea Tree oil is minty feeling and smelling, and it is a good overall cleanser. It sudsed up so why not? I have seen shampoo/body wash combos before. They are great for traveling actually. Anyhow. So I accomplished all I wanted without having to wash my hair. I mean, it is already clean, so why wash it again just for the sake of washing it to smell the shampoo and conditioner? I also realized I have some minty oil mixture which can be used as a massage oil or sports rub. Now I just hafta wait for my huggy bear to return home so he can massage some into my neck and shoulders. That's using my noggin!! :)

I want some avgolemono soup. Except I want it with orzo instead of rice...cuz I like it better that way! :) Anyone wanna take me to Mykonos in Longwood to get some? Chas is out with my car exploring more of the Disney parks for his book, and will be out quite late tonight, so I am solo tonight.
So, currently I am marinating some canned artichokes and some leftover chicken from Popeye's sans the skin. I am going to roast or broil the artichokes, add the cut up chicken breast (which is marinating also, despite being cooked already--I want to change the flavor to go with the dish) which I may re-roast/broil to seal in the flavor and meld it with the artichokes, and serve it with some angel hair pasta. Or something. I don't have all the details worked out yet...just kinda going with the flow to see where it takes me. It will either be amazing, mediocre, or suck royally, but as long as it is edible, I will be ok.
It doesn't happen all the time, but it seems to be a recurring pattern that when I am sick I like to cook more, which is odd, since I don't usually have much energy for the tasks. But I always manage. One of the few productive things I accomplish. Lately it tends to be sweets, but I guess it is savory since Chas is out and I will be able to make whatever I want.
I don't know what I am going to do now.

21 March 2004 22:58I hate my throat being scratchy and sore. It actually worked out well today though, because the first birthday party was a mafia murder mystery, and I was playing a detective. In effort to conserve my voice, I made a sign that said" They told me to keep my mouth shut...OR ELSE!!!" It tied in nicely with the theme since I didn't want to be a party pooper. We already were the only ones without costumes, but we were there which is what was really important in the end. I got really tired and so we came home, skipping the second of the parties. I had a hot bath and I am about to go to bed, which I should have done hours ago when I was really sleepy, but I got a minor burst of energy to keep me going.
I hope the stuff I bought from Chamberlin's helps me, cause there is nothing worse than having a sore throat with a job where you talk all day.
Well, off to bed with me. :)

Shall I list the reasons? Is it really THAT important to you that I wear green on St Patrick's Day? Ok, here goes.
1. Quite simply the most obvious reason: I don't own anything green, and if I do, it must be stuck somewhere in a pile of dirty clothes. I used to have some greenish pants a while back, and a top with pastel green, blue and off white stripes to match. The closest I have now is a shirt with pinkish pastel stripes, and there is a greenish/greyish stripe too, but it looks more grey then green. If you want to go to that extreme, my eyes have some green in them. I actually always liked my eyes. They are hazel...dark green rims with golden flecks inside. Oh, and my car is green (except for the massive amounts of yellow pollen on it right now), but that doesn't count either. So yeah, the main reason I am not wearing green today is that I couldn't find anything green to wear.
2. I have no Irish roots in me at all. None whatsoever. And I am not Christian or Catholic. For starters, I am French Canadian by birth. My dad's family is all from Russia. My mom's side of the family is from Poland. Her dad's family goes back to Sweden, and her mom's family goes back to Turkey. But no Irish. The closet Irish I got is that my mom's parent's traveled in Ireland and Scotland after WWII when the British military rescued them from Siberia. Somehow I don't think that counts.
"Ay, you're just nitpicking. Relax and have fun! Drink some green beer and celebrate this practically meaningless holiday to any non-Christian."
Yeah, I'm just a party pooper. No green beer for me, thank you. No beer at all for that matter. I don't like that icky swill one bit. Ick ick ick.
Actually I have nothing against the Irish. I guess I am just in a rant mood right now. I better quit before I get myself in too deep. Or get green beer poured over my head for being a prick.

My upper right arm has been having these weird spasms since the weekend. The spasms are in the same place. I don't know what is causing the spams, but they sure are annoying. It is like someone periodically pinching a nerve at the same place on my arm. I hope this goes away on its own soon. I don't know if my sanity can handle this any longer! Oh, woe is me! (Can you feel the drama?) ;)
Wolfsheim soon Wolfsheim soon!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
closer and closer it gets.. wheeeee
speaking of.....Mackenna drives me nuts..she no longer plays after school she just wants to harass me till I play mp3s for her...weird.
she is 4.
her favorite band is Wolfsheim, she yells at me when I play most anything else...
although she knows the words to hong kong garden so she must like Siouxsie too.
She also likes t-rex quite a bit...
I wouldn't have believed this when I read it, but I saw it with my own eyes last weekend when I stayed overnight. She kept asking for Wolfsheim. Mackenna also loves the Tones on Tail song "Christian Says" and a few other gems. I think it is cute that a 4 year old can have such discriminating tastes.:)

I did it again.
13 March 2004 00:06I ran the bath water way too hot. So I have to give it a few minutes or so to cool off and I figured I would update. Anyhow, just got back not too long ago form the Animated Shorts 5 program from the film festival. I have to say that this years shorts program has been exceptional. Including the student works. Well, I hated the experimental ones. If "Zombie Peeps" gets cleaned up a bit, I bet it would go great for the midnight shorts. It could be played among the ranks of Beer Goggles and Pornagraphic Apathetic! :) From tonights viewing, I liked Ananda the best. It is hard to describe without seeing it, but most people agreed it was one of the stronger shorts viewed.
So, I may end up being unethical tomorrow. A twist in my fate has occurred. No more said, lest it curse me.
I guess the bath water should be cool enough now. Hopefully not too cool.

I want food.
12 March 2004 15:48Why can't this call end??? I have my lunch (aka dinner from last night) calling out to me, saying "eat me...eat me now," and I have to wait til I am done with this call. Yes, my lunch is at 4pm today. That's because I have super sucky schedule (11:30am-8:30pm) for the next week minus Sunday. And I am extremely bitter about it. The main bitterness stems from the fact that I was given a free ticket to the awards banquet for the Florida Film Festival. This is the first year we have been given tickets. They cost $150 a piece. The celebration starts at 6:30 and I will be here until at least 8:30. I had to forfeit my ticket to someone else. So Chas will be taking his good friend Liz Langely (aka wife #2) with him. I should have kept my ticket and just left early that day. Ethically it would have been wrong, but I would be happier.
Oh, goody! The call is over. I am going to lunch now. :] I will come back and edit this after I eat so
glittergrrl69 will know all about my meal. Love you pumpkin!:)
Ok, still on lunch, but happily full from eating now. So what was my meal? Ok, my arm is twisted. I made cheddarwurst (that's like knockwurst with cheese in it) with masehed potatoes. Nothing too special, but for my glitter, I will go into details.
For the cheddarwurst, I simply put the 4 remaining links in an 8" fry pan, heated to medium. I added a little water (1/4-1/3 cup?) and covered, letting simmer to cook, turning periodically. I set this up while I was making the mashed potatoes. To make them, I peeled about 5 or 6 red potatoes and chopped them into fairly small pieces. Let them boil gently for 15-20 minutes, until my knife went through the small chunks easily. Once boiled, I drained the water from the pan. To my surprise, I had overlooked the fact that I had no milk! Luckily, quick improvising helped. I spotted some sour cream and some dijonaise (stoneground dijon mustard and mayonaise already mixed) along with the butter. I knew those items would add creaminess to my potatoes. So I cut a few tablespoons of butter off, added them to the potatoes and began mashing with the masher I got when my grandmother died. Once most of the lumps were gone, I added a few more tablespoons of butter, a hefty squirt or two of the dijonaise and the rest of the sour cream (about 1/2 cups worth I think), mashed a little more and then mixed with a spoon. They were creamy and smooth and only a little chunky, which is how we like them. As for taste, the sourness from the sour cream and mustard were not very strong or overpowering at all, but added a nice clean taste to the salty sausages. I actually think that made the meal feel more authentic to me, even if it really wasn't. To finish the cheddarwurst, I took the lid off, and let them saute until the remaining water boiled away, and the sausages got a little color on them. Nothing amazing or anything, but just good, basic food. You happy now love? :)

I'm a bad, bad girl.
10 March 2004 12:23I haven't been online much the last few days. I'm very behind on reading my friends list, so be patient with me until I can give the time to read it all. I skimmed last night and there's at least 4 pages worth of stuff to read. I have training today from 1-5 so that is more time I will not be able to catch up. I cherish my friends and want to know what is happening with you all.
We got a special package in the mail recently...I LOVE care packages from cool people! in addition to the one from
kerimatheson, Ron "the God" Kane, who we met on our visit to LA last month (although Chas has corresponded with him for AGES), also sent us some aural treasures. He sent me a Beatles bootleg cd of ultra rare tracks, and Robert Wyatt's "Mid-Eighties" to get my collections on both artists growing. Now wasn't that special? :)
